Popularity in college? My goodness, this high school mentality never ends.
Let me tell you, I AM friends with a couple of D1 football players, I'm talking they were nationally ranked, state ranked, given full ride scholarships as well as ahem, "incentives" such as money, new BMW, new Mercedes, you know, the usual.
Uh, dating one, yeah, pretty much a one sided relationship. If you think he'll remain faithful, he won't. They have groupies also and the parties they have or go to...yeah, hookup zone

There are no popular and unpopular people in college, just different groups of people. The girls in my school who dated athletes were just their girlfriends, that's all. I anything they were getting laughed at because most of the athletes who did have girlfriends cheated on them all the time and everyone knew it but them. Sometimes people would even tell them they were sleeping with their boyfriends and they still stayed with them and the guys kept cheating.
nah you'll be a nobody still. I dated two college athletes. one football player and one baseball player. its not going to change anything. there so many people in college worrying about their grade/partys so they can careless who you are
You'd probably have to look at really small schools. Big schools, there are just social networks. There's no 'popular recognition'.
My school had like 50k students. I couldn't have named a single athelete in the 5 tyears I was there. Social life was focused on where you lived.
Be careful with college athletes. They are top dogs, especially in a sports school. I know, I went to Michigan. Their relationships last as long as new pizza commercial. Really short.
