My boyfriend lied to me to get me a birthday gift?

All right so my boyfriend never lies to me (not that I know of ).. we are very honest with each other .. however, today he told me he was gonna sleep the whole day because he was tired.. though I found out that he went out to get me a birthday gift which is after a couple of days .. should I be mad ? should this be an exception ? I don't like the fact that he lied to me at all .. not even for this! I mean I would prefer not to get any gift but for him not to lie to me .. should I be concerned ? or this is fine ? .. :) Thank you

Geesh guys .. it is the first time someone plans a surprise for me .. I am just not used to this and I'm not sure how to respond .. thank you anyway, I do feel better now :)

Sheesh, calm down.. If he lied to you about this because he was off meeting someone else, then yes, freak out to your hearts content.

But he did it for you. He tried to do something nice as a surprise for you.

So maybe you didn't want anything, and technically he lied - but not really, it's not a big bad black lie, just a little white one. But he TRIED to do something nice so appreciate it.
