So this girl I like at school has been really friendly. Normally she is really quiet, but she was friendly around me. But I think she has caught on that I like her, and she is now really shy, like almost avoiding me. Our once long conversations have shortened down considerably, and she never returns texts. Granted, it's right before midterms, so maybe she is busy. Does she not like me, and is actually trying to avoid me? Or is she just too shy right now to converse with? Should I lay off for a bit, or should I still try to be friendly? I'm also very shy, so her sudden awkwardness is really frustrating.

The shyness could indicate she likes you... I get that way with guys I like, but can easily talk to guys I'm not attracted to.

But if she's avoiding you, she probably suspects you like her and is uncomfortable about it. Maybe she doesn't know if she likes you back, doesn't know if she wants a relationship, or just doesn't like you in that way. The reason could have nothing to do with you: some shy girls have insecurities and can't even accept a guy could like them because they don't have much self esteem/don't like themselves, and don't see themselves how others do. The avoidance could be her own insecurities.

This guy might be different, but although I'm shy around guys I like, if he's texting me, I'm definitely responding. She might just be TOO shy or she doesn't like you and is feeling awkward.

I'd say stay friendly but back off a bit. If it's about midterms, she'll be back to normal soon. But I don't really think that's what it is. I think she may just not like you in that way and you're making her uncomfortable because she doesn't want to lead you on but doesn't want to be mean either. Either way, you shouldn't act bitter about it so staying polite is the best way to go.

Always be friendly ^^ try to talk with her and "feel" if she seems stressed, otherwise you should talk with her about the situation. ^^

I'm really shy all of a sudden with my boyfriend... I can't find the words to text him. Much less if I meet him to talk to him. I was really friendly before and I might even look like I'm acting distant but I've been trying to pump myself up to get the gal to speak with him. I think your crush is as well.
I'd say for you to take the initiative to talk to her in a calm enviroment. Maybe with friends so she can loosen up when she's around you. Then slowly she'll feel a bit more less anxious. Be friendly like you would a friend because it might just be the big switch and turn of events. But if it is her being distant then she might not have the same feelings or she might just be studying extra hard.
Maybe even compliment her out of the blue to see how she reacts that's a very good indication of how she feels about you because that's when a person's guard down.
