Why do nerds and dorky guys like me?

Long story short: I'm a fairly pretty girl. I get very cute guys staring at me/or doing that "woah intense eye contact/stare as we pass" thing but none ever approach me or ask me out. However, dorky and nerdy and shy guys (nothing wrong with either of the three, don't get mad!) seem to develop crushes on me and it lasts quite a bit. Now I am quite nice and shy myself, could that have something to do with it? I just don't understand why one type of guy can develop these crushes without knowing me essentially while others cant?

GREAT question! I think I know what MIGHT be going on here. You probably come off as super nice and sweet, in addition to being attractive. Now by virtue of being attractive, EVERY guy will be drawn to you. BUT the nerdy guys will be espeically drawn, since you seem nice and harmless and unlikely to crush them. On the other hand, the cute guys you may want to approach you, may be more focused on girls who throw off more of a sexy vibe than a pretty vibe. So if you want to get more cute guy attention and less nerd attention, just up the sexy factor a bit.

You said so yourself, you're quite nice and shy too. We like people when we see things about ourselves in them. There's also a difference in the kind of crush developed. You can have a crush on someone based on what you think they are. My friends and I always called that a curiosity crush. A curiosity crush is the initial spark and interest. You develop a deeper crush when you get to know someone. When you make them laugh, when you know what they're scared of and who they aspire to be like.
