De canceled our date....do I wait for him to contact me?

I met this guy on a dating site. We messaged for about a week before he asked me to meet up for coffee. We hit it off right away. We talked for nearly 3 hours. He took me back to my car and we exchanged numbers. 30min later he texted me that he liked me and definitely wanted to hang out again. 2 days later he setup our next date for Friday.

He texted me every other day to say Hi and ask how my day was. Thursday he texted me to ask if we were still good for Fri and I said yes.Then one hour before our date he texts me asking "is it OK if reschedule for a later date?". He didn't offer up an explanation and I didn't want to pry. I replied "sure that's fine" and he texted me back "Thanks...I'm so sorry". I said "It's OK. Hope everything is alright". That was 3 days ago and I haven't heard from him since.

I really liked this guy and I thought he liked me too. Am I being impatient or should I have heard from him by now? I always let him initiate the texting but should I text him to ask how he’s doing or when he wanted to reschedule for?

I know I’m not committed to this guy but I do not like to talk to more than one person at a time so I’m just wondering what I should do and how long before I give up.

You sound totally reasonable and are doing everything right...I like that you let him initiate..speaking for myself, when I liked a girl I could not wait to talk to her again and had to force myself to not bug her too much. I cannot think why he would not contact you other than the usual: death, dismemberment, hospital, jail, best friend or old flame arrived in town unexpectedly...but the only reasons I would not communicate would be death or dismemberment..or possibly jail...but vmw2008 could be correct..he may be indulging in hanky panky..or he could be trying to get some other girl our your way...i think it would be OK to text him: "Are you OK"?

I think you can text him anytime you want...but not repeated texts or nagging...just one gentle prod...this lets him know you care but does not bug or harass him...(:(:(:

Sounds to me like he met another girl on the dating site. If that's true, he likely hops from girl to girl on those things. He cancelled the date, so let him be the one to contact again, and don't take it personally in the meantime. I wouldn't look at it as something you need to wait around for and then give up on. I'd have already "given up." You only went on one date, and then he cancelled on your second an hour before with no explanation and no word since. Too early for mistakes like that.
