Do guys like less emotional girls?

Question

We're all familiar with the generally-detested Drama Queen personality. Some of us have even dated or are related to them. This question is about the other end of the spectrum.

Do guys like females who are less emotional than average? We're not talking about psychopaths (people who feel virtually nothing at all) or socially retarded individuals, just those who are less emotionally-driven than your average female.

Examples:

- Fewer extreme reactions (especially including outbursts)

- Toned-down mood swings

- More cognitively-based decision-making

- Slightly less-noticeable reactions to things that would make the average person react in an extremely visible/obvious manner.

- Thought process geared more towards practical consequences/solutions than how they feel about them

- Analysis of a situation is usually based on facts rather than feelings

- A basically neutral (emotional) baseline (neither obviously happy nor chronically bored/depressed)

- (Some would say) A slightly more predictable set of reactions/behavior patterns.

- Communication: more based on what is said than what is felt

- Actions: less-motivated by how they feel at any given time

So guys (& ladies if you wish to submit a guess), would such a person be more or less attractive to you? All other things being equal.

I for the most part agree with Prof_Don. All though, there are issues with both extremes.

I do happen to like a girl who shows true, healthy emotion.

I however am likely more sensitive than most guys. I do cry at times when I read about strife in the world, etc.

My mate however in my view can be more sensitive. Or at least "how she shows it". She mat feel bad or have the feeling, I don't know. But if she doesn't show it, it's all for not. The only "real" emotion she is really good at expressing is anger. This I think is very un-healthy. She gets consumed in only that emotion. To when a fight happens, she often gives herself more to say I am sorry about because all common sense leaves her system and say's & does things she doesn't mean or have no logic.

I however did not always be sensitive, or as sensitive as I am now. This came with maturity. Wish I know I am not 100% in the place I need to be or want to be either.

But in a woman, as long as it is sensible emotion, meaning not crying if I forget to say "I love you" or thinking that I don't love you if I am in a hurry and forget to say it and you make a huge deal out of it. Or things of the like, sensitiveness is a turn on because I do love a girl who is able to show me "the real her" on the inside where things are the sexiest.

But what is not cool is you only expressing anger as an emotion. Then in a fight, you leave for work and don't get to say I love you, then I have to wait 8 hours until you are off to hear it because you are not in the right mind before you left or you are consumed in that bullsh*t anger.

Or don't get consumed in that bullsh*t anger, especially when I try to act like a wise ass to break the tension and you see right through it, put on that hard nose to try not to laugh because "your mad". I don't care about you being mad. If something needs to be said, say it like a big girl in a way the person understands, make sure he understands it and lets get on with it minus the bullsh*t and anger and fighting and yelling and me getting hurt because I won't stoop to your name calling level or ways just to make one feel bad.

Personally, I like a girl that approaches a relationship like a guy. It would eliminate the communication barriers in a relationship because it wouldn't be logic vs emotion. And before someone says "Why don't you just date a guy then?" it's simple, I'm not attracted to the male body. I'm attracted to the female body but I like a more androgynous/masculine personality. I don't want a Spock type personality, but what I'm saying is I could do without the random crying and anger over petty things and the drama and gossiping about me to her female friends.

Guys,

Girls will always have emotional moments. Guys may say they want a girl who hides her emotions but this can also be harmful to the relationship. Girls were built with different hormones than guys. We do have more tendencys to over react and cry for little things but don't make it a big deal. We'll get over it eventually; just don't make it worse and try to be understanding about it. Its simply the nature of girls.

I'm a little surprised at the results lol. I rarely show my emotions (other than happiness) and I've felt that guys might like me better if I showed some once in a while. Like during an emotional event, when everyone else is crying their eyes out and I'm sitting there like a rock. Or if we're having a difficult conversation and I look like it doesn't bother me at all. :/

I feel like guys who are less emotional are a lot harder to figure out, say if I'm interested in a guy that isn't emotional, its hard to tell if the feeling is mutual.

Brother what you are asking for is a guy.

You gotta accept the fact that you will get some drama from girls...they are built in to crave for that sh*t.If they don't get it naturally,she'll create it. ofcourse she does all of this subconsciously.

Just accept it and learn to handle it.

Infact,When a women is over-emotional its always good since emotional states can be changed easily.

so if your girl is angry with you now,5 min later you could be actually having sex.That is the beauty of emotions.you can change them and women do flip like a pancake.You just need to learn to do it.No wonder you get to see breakup or makeup sex since she is already going through an emotional roller-coaster.

Although extreme drama queens are a big no no...I don't want to deal with that sh*t...I'll pass her onto some other lame guy to deal with :P

I would want to be with a calm girl - someone who is in control of her emotions. Less emotional in terms of anger and hate is good. But I would want the girl to be empathic and caring, someone who thinks before acting, someone who isn't afraid to acknowledge her mistakes.

I think that people always hear about the emotional girls because those emotions are more noticeable. I think that women are more fluctuating - meaning that some women are very emotional in a bad way, but on the opposite end of the spectrum, they are very caring and emotional in a good way. I think that is why women are misunderstood.

I don't think emotions have too much correlation with attractiveness.

I will admit that I'm above-average compared to other males, when it comes to being in tune with my emotions (as in ALL of the emotions, from affection to anger to sadness to jealousy).

One thing I can't stand is an ice queen...my tolerance runs thin with them, because I feel unappreciated.

I would just want a girl to be herself, If I find her attractive that way, great, but being one way or the other is not going to enhance that possibility, she's either genuine or she's not, and if she's not, she won't get my attention, so my advice would be, be yourself no matter what, this way your attract the right guy for you,x

I had a girlfriend for a very long time and she was horrible at feelings! I HATED that about her... I am a very emotional guy and so I like the emotion to be given back! but she didn't deliver! Its horrible! Obviously we all hate the mood swing aspect but I think but when it comes to things like when I do a romantic gesture and all I get is an ''Aww'' it sucks! For example, " years ago for Valentines Day me and her were on a break and I missed her and during out break she used to say she missed me and things like that, so on Valentine's day I surprised her and went to her house and she absolutely slaughtered me for it! She said it was embarrassing and I had no right and so on... Life sucked when I was with her! LOL luckily that was two years ago and now My current girlfriend is everything I could ever want <3 <3

It is all situational. Yes, a less moody-mood swing would be better, but you have to take your feelings into account during communication also.

Generally, I like my girl to be a little more emotional, but not over the top or anything.

As a guy, I am a lot like that and my wife hates it. Many times in life I have surprised people with my milder reaction when the others were jumping and shouting with joy. But to answer your question, I would definitely appreciate less drama.
