Unfortunately, there are stereotypes (both good and bad) about any culture, not excluding Latin American ones.
Colombians have a similar culture clash going on within their country right now. They're really similar to us here in the US actually where there is a huge dilemma between attaining beauty however possible vs. being natural. Many Colombian women are going out of their way to seek a sense of beauty and fashion to where they resemble what we see many North American women doing as well. They're having an explosion or re-awakening where they're becoming the Latin American version of European fashion. The two sides ("fake" vs. natural) are very at odds with each other and see the other as being in the wrong for doing what they do.
Brazilian women have long since passed that old stereotype where they will go after what Spanish speakers would refer to us as "gringos", with Brazilians using the same word even though they speak Portuguese. It is now seen as "low" for a respectable Brazilian woman to be seen with a white or otherwise noticeable foreigner, as many travel to Brazil for sex holidays thinking that the women are aggressive there. They are more forward than we are used to in America but they've become apprehensive towards being seen with foreigners.
This also depends on the area that you go to as to what the belief is. In tourist-y places like Rio, this idea holds true and local, middle and upper class women will stick to their own. Women that live elsewhere in less visited and "Western" areas think somewhat the opposite. If you're seen with a white/foreigner, you're doing well for yourself because he might take you out of there and give you a great life. But this doesn't have to do with sex so much as it does longer term relationships.
I don't know much about Venezuelans, as I'm not friends or haven't dated any. But in the past decade or two, Central and South American countries have started renewing their sense of national pride and are separating themselves somewhat from American culture in particular. As with the Colombia example, some are modernizing in other directions but it still isn't parallel to American culture.
Not putting you down, but tons of Latin American women have constantly heard the hype about how the world and America in particular views them: as sexy, dark, large hipped and breasted women. While they find it flattering from what I've learned, there are still far too many people treating them like sex dolls which no women would appreciate for very long. Not saying you've done this but quite a different message: many others have and they've become a cautious culture in some ways as a result. I'm white and have dated/been friends with many Latina women. They aren't impossible and the ones I'm tight with love me and the way I treat them. But I've seen the stereotype in action with dudes approaching them BECAUSE they are Hispanic.
Don't do that ;)

They are beautiful for the most part. But stereotypically they can be crazy, especially when they are pissed off. But that wouldn't hold me back from dating one.
When I was in Ecuador, lots of women there were checking me out like crazy. More so than any other country I've ever been to. Maybe Ecuadorians aren't very discrete about checking out the opposite sex compared to other cultures.
"But if they generally have pretty friendly and non-materialistic personality,"
I'm always amused at white guys who try to make themselves feel better by saying Latin or Asian girls are less materialistic. Is that before the skin bleaching and/or eyelid surgeries or brazilian butt lift?
I mean, Asia does have the biggest skin bleaching industry and Brazil the biggest cosmetic surgery industry...
I don't say this out of hate since well, I am Hispanic. It's just weird.
Anyways, not all south American girls like the same things.
In general? They are all different. The only things they have in common is that most speak Spanish. But a crazy thing about Brazilian girls is that they will cut you if you start speaking Spanish. Why? Well if you read a book you would know Brazilians speak Portuguese.
All of the Brazilian girls I've met are very outgoing and aggressive, not the guys but the girls. I've known enough that I really do think it's specific to Brazilian culture for whatever reason. Some of these girls are friendly, some are not.

In general I've found them to be beautiful, intelligent, passionate women. Brazilian women in particular seem to be more inclined to take it up the ass, which is a plus IMO.
brush up on your Spanish and you'll be OK
