My professor yelled at me. What do I do now?

He's the head of the program. He's also in the industry and has a wealth of advice. He said he'd meet me during break to discuss my work when the papers are done...

Anyway, a few days ago I dropped by his office during regular office to talk about next terms registration. When I knocked on the door he was friendly saying 'yes', but when he saw it was me he got really angry YELLING 'NO! I don't have time for you!' Whatever it is make it quick'. I got choked up and left.

I talked to another worker and she told me not to take it so personally; he's just busy and I caught him at a bad time. To me, that doesn't excuse what he did. The teachers and staff in the adjacent rooms heard him yell at me. And as you can see by my age, I'm a grown woman so it felt extra bad.

What he did was unprofessional. I don't care how stressed he was, he could have said 'not right now'. I've never done that to a person because I am an adult and I have work ethics.

It's weird because he was so nice a week before. He even said that I'm attractive.. which I found unprofessional, but it was still nice. He used to try to make me laugh and everything.. but now he makes me sick.

I don't want to look at his face anymore. Look at what he did to me when we were ON CAMPUS! If he's in a bad mood off campus, I'd hate to think of what he'd do, and next time he raises his voice I just might lose my temper.

I need his help though. I'm thinking correspond with him via email only. Advice?

He's a professor during mid terms, this is a stressful time for teachers and students. I'd give him a little slack, his job puts a lot of pressure on him. Don't take it so hard, he probably regrets bursting out like that, I would. Forgive him. It's better to forgive and forget than to hold a grudge.

I'd March right in and tell him that you are an adult and a fellow human being and you WILL be treated with the respect you warrant. Make it very clear that should this incident in any way replay itself, you will report him post haste!

There is no advice. He's busy. You're in the way. Nothing new. He acted like a real-world mofo would if they were busy and you were in the way. He obviously isn't concerned about professionalism and I know there's like 80% of the damn story we're not hearing.

LOL, are you him? That is the story. I went during regular office hours set up for students. If he was busy, all he has to say is 'come back another time'. Only an idiot yells like that for no reason.

You were probably in his face for the past 9 weeks while he's trying to legitimately free up time for students who aren't you. Or SOMETHING. I refuse to sympathize with half a story.

Once a week for X weeks probably asking stupid questions ... Hm. Why don't you actually educate us about how often you really bothered this man and what you actually bothered him with. Something tells me he's not just sitting there totally adverse to your face for "No reason" with a "sudden outburst" looking at YOU.

Even if your theory was true. that doesn't excuse his poor behavior . It's abusive and can get him in trouble. He can make his point while being mature. Also, he sees the other students all the time and hangs out with them outside of the school. I'm the ONLY student who WON'T fraternize with faculty. He's with the others much more talking about stupid sh*t, but didn't go off on them. My question was about next term. F-ck you very much :)

It's not about excuses. It's about the truth. We're human, so yeah he probably should have gently told you to f*** off, but he didn't because he was sick of your face. It's just not the thing to do. We'll call it human error.

Also he socializes with other students, making them more tolerable, so when they ask him stupid sh*t probably like you were for X weeks, once a week, he can bite his own tongue because he actually knows something about them. You see familarity as a "bad thing". Then aga

I feel sorry for the girl who's stupid enough to wind up with you, you're an unstable prick, a ticking time bomb. The program is small. Only 25 students. And again, he's physically seen me 4 times and anything I ask is related to the course work. Moron :)
