Rewarding the Good, Removing the Bad

Hello, everyone. It’s been a while since I’ve announced an update, but this one is special. On top of several small technical improvements and bug fixes, we’re introducing a couple of new features aimed at the community, so I thought you might like to hear it from me.

Most Helpful Opinion on myTakes

Rewarding the Good, Removing the Bad

The Most Helpful Opinion is a staple of the GirlsAskGuys experience. Being awarded the MHO gives you Xper points that help move you towards the next level, community recognition and increases your MHO%, not to mention that warm, fuzzy feeling inside.

A higher MHO%, among other things, for example, ensures your opinions are near the top of the list for your gender.

But, until today that was only available for Questions. Now we’re finally enabling it for myTakes as well and we hope it makes the community even better for the amazing content creators we have here and for the people sharing their opinions with them.

As we do for Questions, opinions will eventually be automatically selected as the Most Helpful Opinion if the Author doesn’t pick it. We’re not doing that for older myTakes right now, so you have time to go to your profile and award the MHO on all of them if you want to. The system will automatically select the Most Helpful Opinions a week from now if you don’t.

I don’t want to see this...

Rewarding the Good, Removing the Bad

The other feature we’re introducing today is super simple, but should help the community as a whole. Starting today, the Asker of the Question or Author of myTake, and the Opinion Owner will have more control over their content and have the power to remove annoying replies from their opinions.

You can do that by using the menu accessed via the 3-dotted icon on the upper right corner of the Reply, hitting the “Report” option and selecting “I don’t want to see this” as the reason. That will instantly remove the reply from your opinion or from your Question or myTake, no review pending from an Admin or any other step. We do encourage you to keep using other report reasons if you feel that user is breaking the rules.

On top of that, to make it easier for everyone to report on users who might be harmful to the community, we’ve included a simple “Report this user?” checkbox that enables you to report the content and the user at the same time.

That’s it for today’s update, folks. We’re thrilled to keep improving things for you here and on our mobile apps as well. You should see news there very soon too.
