  • It's to protect the sensitive individuals from rude and mean comments. One deleted, they are directed to a suicide hotline where they can get actual help with their condition. They do care, and are trying to protect them.

  • Suicide is a very sensitive topic and we do not want users posting questions asking "how" to commit suicide or users responding to such questions in negative ways. When these posts are removed, the user is sent a help message with the suicide hotline and links to other resources for them to get help. You can view the posting guidelines in the FAQ which also explains this: http://www.girlsaskguys.com/faq/moderators#147

"Suicidal Tendencies - Posts that glorify suicide, questions asking ways to commit suicide or giving suicide ideas, or opinions that encourage suicide will be removed. Example: “What’s the best way to commit suicide”, “Go kill yourself.” These posts are removed and we send the user a help message informing them how to get help."

  • Your question is suicide related and was not deleted, so you can see that they do NOT always get deleted. I have seen many suicide questions that stayed up, and probably posed a quandry for the admins. Suicide desires are very dangerous and hard to deal with, and generally not something that people on here are qualified to deal with. Some users have the maturity and insight to deal with SOME of the suicide questions that come up, but most users have no idea how to properly handle them, and way too many users mke light of it and suggest the Asker just do it.

But some questions show a strong need for some helpful insight without setting off the alarms, and it seems they are allowed while they stay in the positive side of things and the asker is finding answers that help them.

  • Can't be seen to encourage or glamourise it. If the person is real then they get the helpline info and it discourages hoaxers who endanger lives of the real concerns by blurring the lines and cheapen a very important issue.

  • Well, that's because the admins strongly believe it brings negativity to the community.

  • The Internet is not the place to vent about the problems you should be seeing a therapist for.

  • It's stupid in my opinion, they're asking for help on a serious topic and they get deleted

  • Because suicide is a serious topic and letting a bunch of young people on the internet handle it will do more damage than good. It's best to delete the question. Personally I would also send a message to the poster telling them why and giving them information like a number to a support hotline.
