What is your reason for not rating an answer?

If it's quick to do, and earns that person points, what would be a reason for not rating it?

I know some questions are offensive, so you wouldn't want to, but what about a boring, inoffensive question? Is there a reason not to?

I would rate every question, but lots of people don't, so I was wondering if there's a drawback of this.

  • I'm not on this forum to earn points; I'm here to help and to learn about different perspectives. It's also a good mental training tool to see if I can tackle obscure or tough issues that people face that I don't. As a result, I don't rate a question. I just answer them.

  • It doesn't occur to me. I never think about points.

I occasionally rate one or 5 when called for.
