Masculinity is the attributes, behaviors, and roles associated with being a man. Simple as that.
And yes, masculinity is a social construct, most things are; Including:
*Gender
*Race
*Ethnicity
*Law
*Science
*Intelligence
*Education
*Higher education
*Civilized behavior
*Basic Human rights
*Art
*Love
*Hate
*Marriage
* And, Society Itself
And since a lot of these are made up of proven and obvious biologically created factors just as much as socially defined ones, It's more like social definitions instead of social constructs.
1. Decision-making/problem-solving skills
2. Self-Reliant
3. Motivated
4. Non-Conformist
5. Responsibility/Accountability
6. Health and virility
7. Thirst for knowledge
8. Compassion and ability to lift others up
9. Confidence but not arrogance
10. A manly Godd*mn beard
I fall short in a lot of these, But it's something to strive for.
Fake masculinity or hypermasculinity
Is a psychological term for the exaggeration of male attributes, behaviors, and roles. It places the most emphasis on physical strength, aggressiveness, And sexual conquest(Really just running your mouth about such things)
Besides being fake, It's also toxic and self-destructive.
