1 Big Reason Why Having To Wear Glasses Makes My Life More Difficult in 7 Different Cases

I say having to because actually I don't wear when I go out in public, even if I have to. I only do it at home when I use the computer, where nobody else is seeing me.

The main reason is...

I look like a nerd

This is the main reason why I don't wear glasses. I feel being extremely ugly with them on, and looking like a nerd. And that's why I avoid wearing them. They destroy my image. I don't want to look ugly when I go out, for whatever reason and that's why I always go out shaven and without glasses, even if it means going out for groceries. I want to look good when I go out.

And the seven cases are...

(In alphabetical order)

1) I cannot drive

I'm not unable to drive, but...I have to wear glasses in order to do it. Something that would make me feel really uncomfortable. Especially when you are checking some hot driver at the stop, next to you! Imagine doing that with your glasses on! Thankfully there is good public transit where I live, otherwise I would be really doomed. But still I have problems with public transit sometimes, if you read below.

2) I cannot get a taxi in the morning.

In the night it's not hard, because I can see the light above the taxi, so I can understand it's a taxi...but in the morning I cannot define whether it's a taxi or just a yellow car. Fortunately I don't have to use taxis frequently.

3) I cannot go at the cinema

I cannot see well on the screen without glasses and I feel dizzy. So not an option with all those people around.

4) I cannot see girls from a far range

Well I can see their silhouettes I mean, but I cannot see their characteristics clearly, unless I'm close to them. How is it bad? Imagine hitting on a chick that you thought she is 25, but she is...55 instead. But what can you do? Hit on her with your glasses on?

5) I cannot see the menu at a restaurant (self-service)

So I have to ask the cashier each time what each food is and how much it costs, appearing like an idiot who cannot read.

6) I have to sit always on the front row

I don't go to school anymore, but sometimes I might go to some seminars. Which means I have to sit always on the front row so I can see on the board better. So I have to rush in order to sit on the front, before someone else does.

7) I might miss the bus

Unless someone else stops it for me. Otherwise, it has to come closer so I can see the bus' number, and I'm relying on the bus driver if he noticed my signal or not.

PS: Some smart people might assume I'm a teenager because of this behavior, but I am not. I will turn 25 in October.

I wish I could get a laser surgery! Wearing glasses is a pain in the ass and being unable to see past 10 feet in clarity is an even bigger pain in the ass :(

One problem could be this "nerd" concept. To address this, demolish that problematic concept of a "nerd" (A person with glasses is just a person with glasses. No more, no less.) or make it a good thing (In this world information- and technology-driven world of ours, it's the nerds who make the money.). Besides, what's wrong with being studious? In many nations, that is the expectation, test scores & rankings are publicly posted, and those with the highest scores are looked-up to by the class. In Confucian nations, they shine virtue and deserve everyone's respect for being dutiful, model citizens. In impoverished nations, they will probably actually have a future by avoiding poverty, or even rising to great prosperity. And is really there a problem with being perceived as a hard worker who actually knows what he's talking about?

Another problem could by the make and model of your glasses. There are glasses that actually look good. Some are even designer glasses that sell for hundreds of thousands (even millions) of U. S. dollars each. Even without spending that much, you should be able to find some a good looking pair or two in stores or online.

Or it could be a problem of confidence. If you condition allow yourself to keep being uncomfortable with glasses, your actions and body language will shout out, "Look at me, everyone! I look horrible and I know it!" And people will act accordingly... to add to the inconveniences you're listed above. On the other hand, if you are at peace with these instruments of vision-enhancement, you draw less (or even "no") attention to them, you stay in the moment, and all goes well.

I am going to turn 25 on August 21 and I wear glasses all the time except when I sleep, bath,(obvious reasons). I think it is messed up how many people treat young guys that wear glasses all the times. Many people are messed up and won't talk to them because they assume they are a nerd or geek, and many people would act like they don't know them when other people are around. Also many people ignore them. I notice how most females that look nerdy only get ignored in High School and the first semester of college or university, but then many people pay attention to them and are ok with talking to them. When it comes to guys that wear glasses, they only get accepted when they are in their 30s and older since many more males in those age ranges wear glasses. But young guys in their teens, late teens, and twenties get ignored, etc. Before I used to not wear my glasses all the time but I decided to just wear them so I can see 20/20 despite knowing most people will treat me differently with glasses. I don't want to go walking around half blind. Also wearing my glasses all the time will help me figure out what people are truly good people whereas when I didn't wear my glasses in the past I had no clue if those people would have been nice to me if I would have had my glasses on. I think you should wear your glasses man. That way you can see 20/20 and also so you can figure out which people are truly good people.

-ugly is ugly; dressing up can only do so much to help your image, so I don't mind wearing glasses when I have to.
1. I always wear glasses when I drive - safety first.
2. Thankfully my vision isn't that bad. Actually, I may have more trouble discerning a taxi at night.
4. I don't mind if people look a bit blurry. If I don't know them then I won't recognize them anyways, so they may as well be blurry. But you do make a good point about checking out girls.

6. This is how I found out that I was nearsighted. In university I started to have difficulty reading the board from a few rows back so I went for an eye exam and ended up getting glasses.
7. Once a bus gets close enough then I can pick out the number.

And I have one to add to your list: playing sports. It's difficult to play sports with glasses but also difficult to play without glasses.

One of the happiest days of my life was the first time I got contacts as a senior in high school. Of course, I'm back to wearing glasses now but really, once you pass a certain age, nobody gives a fu**. Hell, many women like it in my experience.

I understand the glasses struggle dude, me the only pair of glasses I own are slightly broken and I cannot afford to get new ones, and so when I wear them I feel like I look like a mad scientist, but going off of that, you may be being too hard on yourself due to the human condition known as "I am not what I think I am, I am not what You think I am, I am what I think You think I am" and that may translate to you being a little hard on yourself due to how you think others perceive you, as a girl who prefers "Nerdy" or sweet guys with glasses regardless of who they look like, (seriously bro, I am really blind even with my kooky glasses) there are plenty of us out there and I am sure that most of the people out in the world do not care either, so please love yourself as much as we do here! <3 and enjoy life for peets sake while you have it its too damn short not to enjoy movies or checking out fifty year old women! ;)

The only time I don't wear glasses is when going out drinking. But this is because I can be a funny/messy drunk and I'll probably lose or break them. Not because I don't want to wear them. I don't think glasses makes you nerdy what you talk about and how you portray yourself is what makes you a nerd.

I'm only a +0,75 border line for driving and I ware them rather than contacts and keep them on when I don't need them like for going shopping. Granted thats mostly down to "lazyness"/ efficent alication of effort. But they dont look bad,

lots of women look hot wearing glasses even use them for fashion some guys do the same
they are not a nerdy thing any more they are also a way to make you more memorable , distinctive or approachable and often you want that.

I use + for distance as my distance vision is what suffers i think that's called Nearsightedness as I can see things better close up.
So if you use - you must struggle with things that are close up like reading unless you use glasses?

Really you don't see the homo twin go as crazy as he did in the original, and I didn't like the way it ended in the new one. In the old one there were many reasons why she felt like she had no way out: like when she saw her best friend at a convention but got beaten since she was the other gangsters wife. And although you can see the dislike between her mum and his mum it's a lot more backstabbing in the old one.

Lots of people wear glasses and why would anyone shame you for wanting to see clearly lmao. You know what would fix this? Getting some confidence and wearing your glasses, like seriously some girls even prefer guys with glasses, and I've never heard someone say "he's a really nice guy... but he has glasses." It doesn't happen.

I am near-sighted, and I have worn glasses ever since 5th grade. At first, it was a shock to me that I would have to wear glasses. I didn't want to wear contacts either or get laser eye surgery, so I just stuck with glasses. Both my parents are near-sighted, but they haven't reached a point when they need bifocal lenses.
