What do girls mean by having an edge?

Some women have a bizarre pain fetish. I saw a documentary where a man was undergoing some expensive and scary surgery to embed small razor blades in his penis that would protrude when he was hard. Your attitude should be one of bravery if you attempt this.

Typically this means a guy who has a bit of a bad boy appeal.

Kind of like a bad boy, though maybe not quite as "bad" since I think nice guys can be edgy too. It makes me think of a guy who has something wild about him, definitely a lot of confidence, maybe is interested in things that girls find exciting but would probably not do by themselves (like cliff jumping or something.)
