Why does eye contact feel so intimate?

i just noticed it. because a guy who may have a crush on me, he seeks for my eyes a lot. he stares too, but what catches my attention he wants to make eye locking.
sometimes i will hold it , but most of the time i just look away and he still looking at me.
i can't explain why. it feel intimate, not always appropriate (f. e. in class :/)
why is he doing it and what does it mean?

Why it feels so intimate... I've been thinking 'bout that , and ya know what? I believe it ya know for me, just feels like you're looking so deep into that person that ya can almost see her soul.

I hold eye locks with females all the time. Whether in class, bars, clubs, or the street. From average looking to hot women doesn't really make a difference. Men do this because it conveys confidence to a female. It lets her know that he's not intimidated by her presence. Its ultimately about appearing confident.

Eye contact feels intimate probably because people don't look one another in the eye when they talk. Try it, lots of people will look away because they think you're invading their space or something.

Now what he is doing, always makes sure he is facing you in groups or class is probably him trying to let you know he kinda likes or is interested in you on more than a friend - acquaintance level. If you're interested pay attention to the signals he's sending.

I do what you do too, I look away. It is intimate because sometimes, I feel like they can see through me. And If I stare any longer at him, he might be able to read that I like him too... but I like to keep crushes to myself
