No, that is a dick-move. The only reasons a guy does that, that soon after, is; Either he wants to get back with you, but isn't man enough to come back, so he will entice you with a line like that so YOU can ask HIM back, and he doesn't get his ego hurt; Or; he wants to know there is a possibility of fooling around with you again, but without going back to boyfriend/girlfriend status - He wants your to say something like 'You still think I' beautiful?', so he can say 'Of course i do, I'll prove that I still think you're beautiful,' and yada-yada-yada. He's a douche-bag with no backbone, and whats worse, is he is using you to stroke his own ego, after knowing hurting yours. Ignore him, and never speak / text him again. Ever. Trust me, Sweetheart, I used to be a jerk like that. You're too good for him.

Would I? No. The greeting "hey beautiful" is reserved only for the person that I want to be with, and nobody else.
