Guy acts like he likes you, then starts to act like you don't exist?

So this guy always acted like he liked me. He would do favors for me, try to start conversations with me, he was awkward/shy around me not anybody else, smiled at me, caught him staring multiple times in one day and then he would look away quickly (happened every day), once I caught him looking and he smiled at me. Well anyway, I like him too and would look at him a lot. I was just too shy and scared to say it. We still talked quite a bit but the convos were just short usually since we r both shy around each other.

Suddenly one day he just acted like I didn't exist. He won't greet me, he won't look at me, he won't speak to me or even acknowledge my existence. He talks to everybody else around us and is friendly with them and then pretends i'm not there. If he could sense me looking, I could tell his facial expression would purposely avoid me or look annoyed. I know I did not say anything bad about him. I know he doesn't have a gf. I don't get it and it actually hurts my feelings but i guess i'll have to move on.

I don't get why he went from possibly liking me to just completely hating me in one day. Problem is that I have to be around him because I work with him. i can't stand seeing him anymore because of how he acts. It makes me feel like crap when somebody acts like i don't exist especially since I liked him so much. Now I act cold towards him too because there's not much else i can do since he clearly has some weird hatred towards me. I just wish we could be polite towards each other at least since I have to be near him all the time. I'm sick of hurting so much. How do I make this situation at least a little bit better and what the heck is up with this guy?

His focus might be shifted on other things, maybe he thinks you're not interested, maybe he doesn't quite understand his feelings for you. Point is, there could be a plethora of reasons as to why he's now starting to ignore you. The best way to find out, especially because it's hurting you (and if you care and still want him in your life) is to talk to him about it!

I don't know, happened to me a lot in school and at work. they seem to lose hope or interest overnight.
I think some other girl asked him out bcz shy guys find it easier to be asked out than having to do the effort. or maybe u could have gave him a signal that u're not interested by mistake

maybe someone said something about you, badmouthing or a rumour. If you're curious and want to settle this, I'd confront him gently to see at least what's going on.

maybe he isn't sure of how feels about you? Maybe he's embarrassed, feels you might not like him… so therefore tries to avoid you?

If this guy was me the change in behaviour is either I am seeing someone else now and you gave me too many mixed signals before,

OR

my friends who I respect know more about you and your personality/likes/activities and it was the opposite of what I thought, in other words we are not compatible.

He might just be nervous to talk to you in front of people, that's how I am. When you two had a conversation was it front of other people or just you two.

Both. We would talk just the two of us and he would be really shy and awkward. He would talk to me in a group and would seem more outgoing. But now he doesn't talk to me at all... or even look at me...

I agree with shadowhuntress, he probably heard something bad about you and that most likely threw him off, you should find out how he feels

Why didn’t you tell him how you felt about him? , I mean this guy was showing you a lot of signs he’s interested an likes you. I honestly believe maybe he stopped wasting his time because he noticed you wasn’t putting enough effort the same he was or maybe because your to shy? Reciprocation is the key to any relationship especially before an during talking stages it means a lot to a guy.
