What does it mean when a shy guy swallows after looking away from you?

This guy I have a crush on is extremely shy, and he's my coworker. I was waiting for my manager to count my drawer, and he was walking towards us to get something in the storage room. We made eye contact, I smiled, and he looked away first and swallowed hard and his lips did this weird movement. I'm usually the one who looks away from him first, but I forced myself to maintain eye contact until he looked away. We held it longer than normal, it felt like.

Shy guys are often stressed out by unplanned social contact, especially when it involves women they like. This is normal and not a reflection on you or his attraction to you but on his lack of social skills. In fact, because he knows there is so much at stake (aka he is attracted to you) and he has no idea what to say. The swallowing and lip moving was most likely him trying to get up the courage to talk to you and figure out what to say.

Also, as a side note, shy guys often don't pick up on subtle signals a woman is interested, even if she feels like she is hitting him over the head with it. Sometimes with shy guys if you want anything to happen you will need to make the first move.
