Coming from a guy I've had a lot of eye contacts before, who often stared into my eyes intensely, who I heard, said I was hot to his friends and stalked me.
But now I found out he has a girlfriend, I stopped looking at him. But he still, except he doesn't make a lot of eye contacts, especially when we are close to each other.

He now watches me for a long time when he thinks I'm not looking, even follows me with his eyes even turns around when I walk from afar (he can't see my ass from where he is), but once I catch him, he looks away quickly.

Even though I'm a girl, what I can say is, is that there could be a chance that he does like you or something like that. That's kind of happened to me before (the part where he would look at you and when you look at him, he looks away) and that's what people have said to me, so maybe it's true, I never really got the courage to ask the guys if they like me or not. I also think that you should test him, get up from your desk and go grab a tissue or something and if you're able to see him from the corner of your eye, see if he's looking at you. People can have different reasons. Maybe he doesn't want the girl to be interested too, maybe he thinks that she can blow up with him, maybe he has a girlfriend and doesn't wanna be caught (this seems to be the case in your situation), there can be many reasons.

Yeah, it doesn't make sense. The more he looks the higher are the chances of being caught. But the urge of looking is so big that he cannot avoid it.
