If I notice a guy is wearing cologne and he hasn't before... does that mean he's trying to impress me?

What the title says... We are acquainted but not close friends. I have seen him in group settings with his friends... And yes, I was close enough to tell if he was wearing any. He wasn't. This time it was a few of his friends and married couples and me.. I could definitely smell it. It was strong. Smelled good too... So was he trying to impress me?

Anyway, Here's the deal... he's wearing new cologne simply because it makes him feel good. It's the same as when a girl buys a new dress- it's not always to impress a guy but to make herself feel beautiful. Stop reading too much into guys' behaviour.
