Why do guys think it's okay to touch my waist randomly?

This applies to strangers and guys I know. Basically whenever guys want to walk past me and I'm in the way, they touch my waist and squeeze past. Why do they ALL do this? I don't understand why they can't just say "excuse me" instead of touching me. It's even worse when it's a stranger because it's just weird as hell. Is it on a purpose or do they genuinely think that's going to help?

  • "Basically whenever guys want to walk past me and I'm in the way, ..." A better question is why do you put yourself in a position that you know is blocking the flow of people? Why should someone have to ask you to move when you already know you are blocking them?

So they are likely assuming that since you are blocking them they need to push past, and they touch you to make sure that you are not knocked over. I would rather not touch people I do not know, but when they insist on blocking traffic, I will at least touch them with my fingertips to be sure that I can sense if they are suddenly moving or falling and can compensate. If you were not blocking us, we would not have touched you.

    • But you don't have to touch my waist. You can simply tap my shoulders or something.

    • Or you could simply not stand in the path that traffic has to use. To be honest, I usually put my hand near a person without actually touching them for the precautions I mentioned, but if they suddenly move or someone else bumps them, then they will contact my hand. The simple solution though is to not block a path.

  • I like that you've asked this question, I'd feel really uncomfortable touching someone I didn't know properly, even people I do know tbh. I see other dudes touching girls just to move them out the way or something, but it's actually a sexual touch and I wonder why girls put up with it.

  • Bc you allow them into your personal space. If you're just generally in the way it's a manner of non-threatening but I don't think you heard me move out the way= simple push on the waist.

  • Ya nothing bad about it. Talking to everyone in your way in crowded places is just annoying. I push people around as well

  • I do this too, though it doesn't have to be on the waist. I do it so as not to startle the other person.

What Girls & Guys Said

  • I never do that. I swat the girl's behind instead of that's in the way, and I think she's cute.

  • I'm a guy and they touch my waist sometime. Let alone a girl. Don't over think it lol

  • I've never done that, but I imagine they think it's smooth somehow and an excuse to touch or flirt with you. It's obviously flirting but something I think they think they can get away with.

  • I think they are just pushing you aside.

  • So they don't shove you, just gently go by.

    • But why the waist? Why not my shoulder or arm?

    • Maybe it's just the first body part they think of? Or whichever body part their hand is near?

    • That doesn't justify it

  • Because it's a good excuse to touch your waist

    • But hell if even random strangers are doing it, then you may just be in the way

  • You must be at a club when guys are disrespectful like this.

    • Happens there often but other places too

    • Maybe they like your body so they touches your waist to feel on you but they could at least control the boy inside of them because it's disrespectful to you.

  • People usually touch my abdomen, I don't know why, of all places. Perhaps it's an instinctive thing to do? Maybe I'm thinking too far...

  • Well they can just shove you around next time if it's bothering you so much lol

  • THEY DO THE SAME THING TO ME!! I personally just think They do it to avoid shoving us
