In this matter I can only talk about myself. The few conversations I had with some of my friends where more about the pride of having been of a woman who swallowed, rather than exploring the inner thoughts about that.
So, as a matter of fact, I DO, and I don't see why anyone should not respect anyone who engages into sexual practices that do not harm anyone. Actually as I enjoy it a lot (like most men) not only I respect her but also acquire some additional sexual attraction to that person.
However, I find it very important, on the matter of oral sex and swallowing, that it is something that she's enjoying too, and not doing it just to please you, or for fear of you rejecting her, or for practical reasons such as cleaning up. However, no matter what her option or reasons are, I do respect her wishes even if they do not line up with mine. If sex is not up to my expectations or desires, and we can't find a meeting point in this matter, I'll just move on, but always with respect and care.

I don't think it changes the respect that much.
I think you are right, it's a mental thing. It can't be otherwise as we obviously cannot feel physical pleasure by it. It's more gratifying when swallowed, and would respect a girl no more or less than I did before. It has never been an indicator of any stage of relationship.
