Why Do People Think I'm Gay?

Alright, lets get this outta here.

Yes, I'm a male dancer, I dance mostly hip-hop, but I'm also into ballet, jazz, tap and ballroom.

Sure, I'm a dancer, but I am more physically capable than many seniors at my school, and I'm a freshman.

Okay, I may watch girly movies/Read girly books/Listen to girly music, but I always say that you have to try everything before you dis it, and if I just trash stuff like the notebook (I've watched and I love that movie) then I'd be a hypocrite.

And okay, yes, I'll admit that I cry, I cry over a girl. She's got me crazy, best believe that, and I just can't stop thinking about her, so when I'm not around her, I'm practically heart broken, and crying is not that bad, it's a good release, it's better than doing drugs, getting into fights, hurting myself, or drinking.

P.S All of you who say that male dancers are gay (Yes, most that do ballet are), you can't really say that about ALL of them. My girlfriend is a dancer, and we dance at the same studio. But think, even if we break up (doubt it(: ) I'm surrounded by girls still. While a football player may be dissing me, that guy might be in material resembling tights (I have to wear it for ballet) and while I'm dancing, they're tackling other men. And not to mention, they're in the showers (locker room), and slap each others butt "It's cause I'm an athlete".

Well you do things that are considered more feminine. I don't know if you do any other sports or anything that would be considered typical things that men like. It's all about stereotypes the common man doesn't like dancing, or crying. The common man likes football, cars, not expressing feelings. And since most gay guys also have feminine likes then it's just putting two and two together. One of my friends I thought might be gay when I first met him. He hates sports, and just does a lot of girly things, but that's just how he is. If you don't mind me asking what was your fathers role in your life? My friend was raised by his aunt and only had her and his sister growing up.

My father has done a lot in my life. But the lessons that he teaches is ones that I learn by myself from observing, like not smoking, don't gamble, and a lotta of the stuff that parents don't want their kids doing. But it's mostly my mom that raised me, and they just want me to push on whatever interests me.

Most people are so insecure about themselves, they immediately look for perceived faults in others to allay their own self-doubts. This behavior is of course amplified in a setting such as high school, and is without fail exacerbated when a given individual exhibits notable talent in a particular area. Hence, rather than admire you as someone of formidable abilities, it's much easier to say, "Oh, he's a fag". Of course it's all ridiculously childish and small-minded, but this too shall pass. Time wounds all heels, and in time you'll find most of the football heroes of high school, to be the visionless, mentally-constipated vagabonds they actually always were.

Freshman too and don't worry about the movie and books my guy friend does the same thing and writes poetry. he is not gay and even though people tells him he tells he's not and that he likes girls and their features lol. yeah that's how it is.

If I didn't read the title of this post and I didn't know that you were straight, from just reading your description of yourself, yes I would have also assume that you're gay. It's just a sterotype, not a big deal, once people get to know you, they'll know the real you

It's because you don't do masculine things. Masculinity play a big factor when being perceived by society. You probably have a more sensitive; feminine side to you. Personally, I was born with too much testosterone lol, I ended up having the deepest voice out of anyone I know, including grown men, I am more muscular than the older guys at the gym, and girls love masculine tall guys. Maybe you just need to ignore everyone and do what you want to do. Stop being insecure and taking other people's sh*t man. Be confident in yourself and who you are, and if you like dancing, sh*t who cares man, I love dancing in the club too. From the way you talk, you seem like a sensitive little guy with feelings and isn't afraid to show emotion. That may be good for you, and it may make you feel better. Those people are just full of sh*t. Thy drank the cool aid a long time ago. They let a bigoted society and stereotypes think for them. What you experiencing is the harm that gender roles do. You dance and do the things you do because that's who you are the fact that you are male is like the fact that your hair is a certain color. I like to do a lot of that stuff to the music and movies your taking it aren't really "girly" at all feminine and masculine are artificial constructs that don't really exist. Behaviors have been lumped into these titles is all. I'm sorry that you have to fight to be who you are against a world of corrupt bigots who would force you into some role because of an accident of birth. I only do those type of dance styles at an appropriate time, but you can mostly find me breakdancing and poppin', krumpin, jerkin. And most of my music is a huge base of RnB and Rap...some techno. but thanks for your insight

Anything that is outside of an average guy's behavior, can be viewed as such. Too few people do these things, and people will automatically jump to conclusions and assume, 'Duh, hey, you must be gay, hehe'. Wrong. Don't worry about it too much.
