Guys are very visually oriented, and nudity excites us. There are a number of reasons that guys ask for nudes. As you mentioned, there are plenty of nude images online. Its not that simple though. A lot of the time, it's more exciting when you know the person. Likely because subconciously it feels more personal or as if the chance for sex is real. This does NOT mean a guy wants to have sex with you, only that men are wired to find nudes of girls they know to be much more attractive than nudes of girls they don't know. Additionally it can be more personal for a guy if he feels that the nudes are specifically his; that no other guy gets to see them. This isn't true for all guys but certainly for some.
Guys are wired to not see the chance for failure when it comes to girls: the basic rule is you can't win if you don't try. Since sexual drive is based around reproduction, a guy that asks a 100 girls for sex only has to be told 'yes' once. 99 'nos' don't hurt his chances of success. The guy that asks 0 girls has 0 children. Thats why guys are wired for that slim chance.
If you genuinely like a guy and are willing to have a bit of fun with him but are worried he'll spread the pictures around maybe just meet him in person. Make sure you set out some guidelines first (like no touching) but I tell you if he's into you you will make his entire week if you let him see you a little less clothed. Be careful though, and dont do it if you aren't prepared. If you get nervous you shouldn't do it. Only if you're comfortable.

@mistixs ah, I was referring to the previous statement. Also remember absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. He might want to have sex with her or he might not. Sex is a big step. It isn't something you should rush into. I only wanted to say that nudes of someone you know are more appealing than strangers but that it isn't because a guy actively plans to have sex with her. Only that the idea of sex is more real and is therefore more exciting. It's like if someone on the other side of the country wins the lottery or your neighbor down the street does. When its closer to home its more interesting. In general I think guys would prefer nudes of someone they know over random strangers from the internet.
I'm guessing they want someone new to look at. But just because people are in a relationship, doesn't mean that the girl has to give the guy a nude pic of herself. Nobody should feel compelled to give someone a nude pic. I've never asked one. To be honest, I'd prefer seeing her in person rather than on a picture or video.
I suppose it's because guys can be shy about getting past the physical part of relationships and use their phones and computers to hide behind. Instead of just being honest about being attracted to you and wanting to see more. I guess some dudes just don't feel at liberty to do that in person in a private place. It could mean also that the relationship is so new between you and he just can't wait for things to happen naturally and get anxious to see the "goods" lol doesn't mean you have to though, it's your body and you don't have to share it with anyone you don't trust or care about.
Because they're horny and it's neat when it's someone they know or someone they talk to. Adds a little zest.
Not all girls are prudes, actually, and will without judgment sent nudes to a guy if they've got a friendship of some deeper connection going on. Not necessarily a long term relationship.
Granted, if you're under 18 you SHOULDN'T send nudes because... legal reasons.
Because there are a few guys who actually manage to get nudes from girls they know.
