"Text me when you get home" ?

Question

Ok so I'm just curious do you guys think when a boy tells a girl to "text him when she gets home" is it because he likes her? Or is it just a guy thing, or just in general a protective thing? I've had my boyfriend tell me that, but also another guy who's just a friend. And that same guy also says it to other girls so it's not like he likes me (he said it to my friend and she just told me because she thought it was sweet). And also I say it to my brother (he's younger than me) so that's why it might be a protective instinct? Like boys with girls, older siblings with younger siblings etc. What do you think?

yeah people usually say that as a protective instinct or other words, a way of making sure you got home safe. It doesn't mean a person likes you or not. I've had guys say that to me after a date, and when I texted him I was home, they would reply back ok sometimes and even goodnight and would never hear from them again. So no its not a guarantee sign you will hear from the guy again or that he really likes you. Some people are just considerate in you getting home safe esp family :)

All of the above. Some guys just do that because their mama taught them right and they are concerned about their friend/girlfriend/spouses safety. Some are asking because they like the person and might not if they don't. So I think it's dependent on the person, but it's generally because they do actually care, irregardless of whether there is romantic feelings or not. My mom asks me to text her when I get places lol.

Its because he is showing some concern that you got home safely. Usually it means he cares about you but not necessarily in a romantic sense. But yes it is a protective thing. Much like the guy who will walk you to your car after a date to make sure you get to your car ok.

They're just expressing that they care. It doesn't necessarily mean they like you more than a friend (obviously your boyfriend would though), it's just protective and they care about your safety.
