What reasons would he have to associate with you if he doesn't think you're interested in him? Are you also coworkers? Do you business together, such as a client/customer? Same sports team? Neighbours? If there is no reason for him to talk to you then don't be surprised if he doesn't. For example: I talk to the waitress at the bar down the street all the time when I'm there, if she were to quit her job or I no longer go to her bar I would no seek her out to have a conversation. So once he determines there isn't any way of getting on a date with you then you just slide back into the rest of the population.
He will try to ignore you sometimes but not always. The thing is some guys don't give up even if they think you're not into them. So it's hard to tell. But you can tell if he likes you or not. Watch out for some signs. If you like him then give him some hints so he can make a move. And yes guys are also feared of rejection so we don't want to take any risk.
It depends. If they are not attracted to you they wouldn't mind at all and they would keep on acting distant.
Anyway, I don't think that guy even thinks of you.
