What does it mean when a guy tries to comfort/console you? Could he have feelings for me?

Anonymous
I've recently lost my grandmother which I shared with a guy friend of mine. Before I shared the news with him, I assume he noticed my solemn look and came beside me and asked me what was wrong. Once I told him the news, he grabbed me (a little to aggressive than necessary) and wrapped his arm around my shoulders tightly. As we began to walk he kept his arm around my shoulders and listening and looking at me intently. He dropped his arm from my shoulder and walked really close to me, almost cornering me against the wall. He placed he arm around my shoulders again, fixing his arm to round my shoulder (I've got to be honest, it felt really nice) and brought me close to him as he rubbed my shoulder telling me that I had to be strong and that I can get through it. Once he let me go, he insisted that I contact him for whatever. No matter what it was. That he is always there for me.

Im probably over thinking things. I've liked this guy for over a year and I had thought he felt the same way until I found out he had girlfriend. I know this is a lame question to ask given the context of this situation, but what does it mean when a guy tries to console/comfort you? And given the way he approached me, is it possible that he has feelings for me?
