Why does no one seem interested in me?

I'm 5'8" with blonde hair. I consider myself average-athletic, considering I am an avid equestrian. I like all kinds of music, and am open minded. I live on a ranch so I'm not overtly girly, and am not afraid to get dirty. I'm confident in myself, and I'm very talented in music (I play several instruments) and horses, among other things. I love a variety of activities, like snowboarding, reading, riding, traveling, language, swimming, tango/salsa etc.

My problem is, no one ever seems interested in me. Once in a blue moon, someone will express interest, but it quickly fades, and they never talk to me again. I'm confused as to what I'm doing wrong. I go out to concerts in the park in my hometown, make an effort to befriend people etc. I don't hang out with many people (since I don't have many friends) so it's not like I'm in a big group, so I'm hard to approach.

I'm nice to people, and am outgoing. If someone asks me my opinion, I will give them my honest feeling in a polite manner, although some people take it the wrong way because they might be overly sensitive.

Anywho, if anyone has any ideas, please let me know. I've been told "because they're intimidated by you" or " you just haven't found the right one yet" or " it's because you're too good for them" but I get the feeling that they're trying to just make me feel better.

Hey, I think your main problem is that you need to put yourself out there more, and also start making more friends and hanging out with people. Trust me it really helps. You sound a lot like me, especially back in high school and in the early part of college. I remember thinking to myself then "hey I am a pretty cool guy. I play a couple instruments, I like to make people laugh, I like some outdoor stuff, and try to have a good time, but why aren't girls interested in me and why don't I have more friends" Anyway I started to get to know people more, and now I have a close group of friends I can hang out with and it helps with girls because they know quite a few and I've started talking to a few (I haven't found the right one yet though). The other thing is you need to put yourself out there more. Going to concerts and things is good, but go to other events, Are you in school? if so get involved with certain clubs and activities. That is what has helped me to get to know more people. Hopefully if you get more friends you may be easier to approach. Also, be a little more talkative. If there is a guy you think you like, put yourself out there and say hi. Hopefully this helps. You shouldn't have to worry though. You are not only pretty, but you have a great personality that most guys would easily fall in love with. don't worry if guys don't come along soon. You're young, just live your life and do a little more to get out there and soon (I know you've heard it before), the right guy will come along. Hopefully this will help you.

hi musicgirl135, the key problem is that your attitude and your opinions get on the wrong way. people always want their friends to share sorrows and happiness together. when they are sad, you should feel him/her, let the true feelings with you.then your good quality will be discovered by them. I hope you can become better in dealing with these things.

OK, HOW do you know how she comes across to people? I assume you are not present for her interactions with the people she meets. I didn't read anything in her post to suggest that she doesn't share happiness and sorrow with her friends. You confuse her willingness to express an honest opinion with not being able to "better deal with these things." So, you'd rather be with a woman who doesn't give her honest opinion? You offer her pointless and poor advice.

There is nothing wrong with YOU. I am pretty similar to you (probably a little older) but being single I experience this behavior from both men and women, which to me, indicates it's more of a societal "problem." We live in a very selfish, almost narcissistic age where we only focus in on ourselves. I try to be conscious of this and show genuine interest in the other person, hoping it will be a two way street. Often times, it is not and I abandon that person. But you can't give up because you will come across people who are legitimately interacting in you as a person. From a dating standpoint, I wouldn't want to be with a guy who only shows interest in his life and his pursuits. The whole point of finding a mate is to blend two worlds together and get to know one another. If one or both parties is only interested in themselves, well then there is no point in forging a relationship with that person. It will only lead to heartache. And that goes for same sex friendships.

So, keep doing what you are doing. Engage. You only have control over you, your actions and reactions. Those who are genuinely interested in you as a person will come around. You just need to be patient.

Look for people who combine with yours, you might give a bad impression to some people because of how they are (as in their personality) when you could be able to give off a great and potential love interest (lol) impression to others that suit your personality in the love department, this can be found out by knowing the sign of the people around you, it really helps.
