When is all this foolishness going to end? What's next, shaving your entire body for a new made up reason women shouldn't have any hair but the hair on their heads?
Seriously people. I think everyone (especially men) need to accept the fact that we have body hair FOR A REASON unlike the appendix, the hair DOES serve a purpose. It's NOT natural to shave it off. Society is not natural. Society is about fad and a whole lot of nonsense politics.

maybe I'm wrong in saying this, and I'm not a guy obviously, but I think shaving your armpits is a pretty basic, reasonable thing to expect in a girl. maybe it's just where I'm from, but it's considered even more important than shaving you legs, I agree that it's not really fair, guys don't have to worry about it... but I guess it's not feminine to have hair on your armpits. one of my exes said it would really freak him out if a girl didn't shave there, but I bet there are a lot of guys out there who wouldn't care and prefer the "au naturel" look, but I have yet to meet them. sorry :S
I don't think I have ever met a guy that thought shaving someones arms was a turn on. I typically hate it when girls shave their arms. I would understand if their arm looked like an explosion of hairy gorillas but if not I don't see the reason in it.
I don't mind hair on arms but then if you have an extreme amount.. then that can be a turn off. While one answer says that it grows back darker and thicker that isn't true. No hair on any body does that.. I mean look at bold guys, you think most of them are like that by choice? They'd be shaving like crazy if you shave and hair grows back darker and thicker. Truthfully half your hair follicles on your body are dormant for about 5 years for each hair on your body.

There is no need for girls to shave their arms unless they are hairy like grizzly bears.
My girlfriend sometimes shaves her arms too and I always say that's unnecessary so she doesn't shave them often.
Also I heard that if you shave your arms your arm hair get darker and thicker so they feel hard and scratchy.

Some girls have dark body hair/or have very fair skin which showcases the hair, and it makes them self-conscious. I'm one of them. Although I don't shave my arms, I wax them, because that way they stay smooth. The appeal is that I'm not bullied anymore. Or actually, I wouldn't be bullied, because I'm not in school anymore, but it would translate into me with arm hair=less appealing.
it's funny, because I shave my arm hair, and I prefer it tenfold that way, but if other women don't shave their arms I think it's fine and definitely a big no no for guys if they shave anything apart from their face, but I just do it for myself, not a problem at all unless you have monkey arms is my personal opinion :) x
Unless you are a swimmer it is overboard. Women need to learn to let their natural beauty shine through and men need to learn to appreciate it.
Girls shouldn't be more masculine than males that's all.
If a girl has more body hair put to together than a male's pubic hair, I mean we need that for are testicles in the cold, I don't know what you gals need it for.

hm I have super hairy arms, but I leave them alone. I'm not bothered enough to remove my arm hair lol. I do shave "the other places". as the hairs are darkish, I have thought about bleaching my arms though. when I hear comments about my arms I just ignore them, then people stops mentioning it:) not a big deal!
I think it is just because it has always been done for a long time that most guys thinks women do not have underarm hair and appears to be more manley to have it because guys have it. I prefer to have them shaved.
I used to shave my arms as the hair used to worry me but as I've got older I've learned to love it and realized that's me and if a man doesn't like that's his choice. Also I heard its not good to do it as it can cause problems when it grows back.
It is overboard and it's not necessary. That's why I like it. I have something of a hair removal fetish, so if a girl shaves her arms it shows she goes the extra mile to stay hairless, which I consider a turn on. But it does get stubbly, it can be a hastle, and it's not that big of a deal.
I don't get why anyone would think it's a good idea. I saw someone the other day who shaves their arms and wtf? All stubbly and crap. Ew.
if your fair haired and like not even hairy your good, but some girls are hairyer than others if you can see it shave it :(

The only people I know that shave their arms are swimmers.
Do not shave your arms. It's a major turn off for most guys.
There are other ways to deal with it, you don't have to shave them,
if they are super dark hairs, you can always bleach them, and that causes No harm at all, the hair will still be there of course but less notable
Slightly hairy arms are better than stubbley shaved ones!
The hair on my arms are really light and unnoticeable so I leave them as they are
