If you hurt a guy's ego, how do you fix it?

Anonymous
A few months ago I started hanging out with a very sweet guy from school. He was making an effort to see me and I honestly thought we were getting to know each other as "just friends". He never hit on me, or even really touched me outside of hi and bye hugs. I realize now that he had a romantic interest in me (hindsight is 20/20) but the entire time I was still seeing and flirting with other guys pretty heavily in front of him which I think must have been hard for him to see. I feel terrible about this.

He is pretty short with me now, like if I come into a room he leaves. He still talks to me but not nearly as much as he used to. The moment he started acting this way was when I realized that he actually REALLY liked me and I feel awful. Things have definitely changed between us. There is a serious tension in the air whenever we share a room and I know he feels it too because he kind of brought it up when we were out drinking one night. The awkwardness.

If a girl has hurt your feelings this way is there any way to fix it? Or is that bridge burned forever? Do you think he would bring up the awkward tension if there wasn't at least a small chance of me fixing this?
