I think you're normal because I too have those comittment issues. Lots of people frown on it because of the theory that you "shouldn't be getting into relationships if you're not ready".. My arguement is that you never know with these types of things unless you try. Atleast, I'm not able to guess how I'll react in 100% of all the different situations I'll encounter.
Anyways, just try to work on it and do the best you can. Realize that you're aware of it now and that maybe you have underlying thoughts that need to be cleared up. I found that the best way to clear out a problem is to face it head on, no bullsh*t. Like when I was "wanting to see variety" yet I was in a relationship -> I came out and told my girlfriend what my heart was doing but that I would never cheat on her; I never cheated on her, I may have hurt her severely by telling her (she didn't speak up about her feelings), and in the end I felt the wrath for having those thoughts. The result? I no longer consider "seeing other women" when I'm in a relationship because I now know what it can do to the other person.
My issues will vary from your issues; just like they will vary from someone else's issues. We ALL have issues which are different. No one is perfect. Those people that pretend to be are just acting very hard every day -> My opinion is that if you're aware of your comittment issues and you try to work through the fear/phobia/etc then you are doing better than just hiding the fear or not dating at all.
And a little insight because I find it helpful when people answer my questions this way: If you were dating someone of my exact same mindset, and you voiced this "feeling" towards me -> I'd probably overreact at first and get pissy; not at you, but at the fact that I only get in relationships with girls I'm sincerely interested in. So if you are wanting someone else it's going to hurt me, alot. And to justify my pain, I'm going to express it (like I said above, face it head on without any bullsh*t).
