I've been with my 21 year old girlfriend for 3 years (I'm 22). Like most women I know, my girlfriend hates asking people questions and she hates being asked any form of question even more. It's her number one hate in life and it's always guaranteed to result in her getting bitchy, moody and volatile.
She also isn't too fond of conversation and making conversation. She will ask how my day was however, and leave it at that in terms of her conversation involvement.
To make any conversation possible, I always need to make statements. I can't ask about her hobbies and interests (I'm a naturally curious person who enjoys finding out other people's opinions and hearing their perspectives), so I have always simply just experienced her interests myself so I can make statements. I learned the violin and took circus performers classes as she is a local circus performer. I even tried to give ballet a shot so I would be able to make conversation about her interests without having to ask her anything.
Recently though, she went on an around the world trip. I am a very curious person who has a keen interest in travel and other cultures, however, I can't afford to travel at the moment.
How can I have a conversation about her trip if I can't ask her questions and she would never tell me anything about it on her own accord?
Simply saying, "Please tell me about your trip" wouldn't be enough. I am a more traditional person who enjoys having a two sided conversation, which involves opening up to the other person.
