What does it mean when a guy says "we'll see what happens"?

I liked this guy and we ended up hooking up for a little while. We grew apart over the summer but are back in the same location now. I still like him, and he says he doesn't know how he feels. When I ask about us being together he says "we'll just see what happens". It's infuriating. What does this mean? Should I just give up?

I'd more than give up. I'd tell him to get LOST. This is a code phrase for 'I'm an irresponsible jerk who just wants sex and I don't care about your feelings.'

In a way he's being very HONEST with you since most people understand the meaning (hidden) of this phrase without having to have anyone EXPLAIN it to them!
