it's an indication of attraction & availability, especially if accompanied by foot-pointing (when standing, her foot is pointing toward you) and wrist-exposing (showing the soft part of wrist).
guys have similar "tells" - they foot-point & hook thumbs into belt or pockets causing a sort of 'v' pointer to groin area.
next time you're at a party, have a look at the groups of talking people & watch how they're standing & what they're doing with their hands.
It's an indicator of interest that most women do subconsciously. Basically it's a sign she's interested in you.
It can also be because she is nervous. Maybe it is because she likes you, or maybe it is just because she is shy and does that when she talks with everyone she really doesn't know?
for me personally , it's a way of flirting or showing interest OR sometimes i just do it without noticing usually when i watch tv or listen to music I catch myself doing it

Probably hasn't washed it and it's a simple reminder for her.
By “girl”, what do you mean? What age? If it’s a girl who is aged after 20, it could be Because she feels uncomfortable talking to you if your are above aged 45, but if it’s a woman who is above 25, it could be because they are used to playing with their hair.
Playing with hair doesn’t really mean anything, you have to also notice what are her legs and hands and overall posture. But since you’re saying a “girl”, I think it could just be that it means nothing because most girls who are below 25 aren’t really attracted to men who are much older than them.Usually indicative of interest, but could just mean a bad hair day. The tells that I like a gal are mostly really obvious ones. Wanting to know her availability, so I'm less likely to ever interrupt her at a bad time. Requiring less personal space with her than others. Wanting to stand behind her like a guardian angel (provided she doesn't have a problem with it.). Providing more protips and cliff notes than usual, because I want her to be just as knowledgeable as I am.
And if I've really got it bad? When I start buying her multitools or camping gear.
It doesn't always have to mean something. Today I noticed I was doing that while with my friends one of them a guy and the other a girl, and I realized that maybe he thought I was being flirty but that hadn't even crossed my mind initially, I was just bored
I play with my hair all the time for no reason at all. Basically, it means pretty much nothing.
Could be lots of things. Depending on the context, she’s flirting, nervous, or it’s just something she idly does all the time.
Nothing i sometimes for do it unconsciously because i like playing with my hair. But every girl is different.
either she's interested in you or her hair is terrible .haha.
Usually its a sign she is interested or she thinks her hair is messed up.
Either she’s drawing attention to her hair, which is her best feature or she has a severe case of OCD where she cannot speak without doing something with her fingers.
A lot of people take it as flirting although yes it could be flirting but it can also be anxiety
I can't speak for all girls but me personally when I’ll around someone I like talking to I tend to to that. Or when im nervous.
