Can some guys act defensive/rude when they like a girl?

especially for a guy whos not thinking of marriage or a serious relationship at least I don't think he is and he suddenly meets a girl who kind of gets under his skin, and now he's suddenly defensive around her and rude to her and even mean to her but other times he's warm and flirty and has puppy eyes and can't stop staring? or is he all together a bad guy and one to be avoided?

Is he an altogether bad guy? I don't think so, but I don't know him. A lot of times, guys are defensive around girls that they like, but they feel that this girl doesn't like him back. So he puts up a front. This could lead him in two directions.

1. Actually hating the girl and despising her.

2. Falling for the girl even harder than before.

Right now he could go either way. If you are this girl that you are referring to then tell him straight up. If you like him, let him know this, if you don't like him... well... if you ignore him or anything of the sort I think he will get the hint. I would prefer it myself for a girl to just straight up tell me she doesn't like me, but I know a lot of girls don't like hurting peoples feelings soo... whatever feels better for you to do.

its actually a long story I've liked him for a long time now and I did make several moves including asking him out he said he was busy with school and stuff but will get back to me and surprise surprise he never did and months go by and he comes up to me in school again to say hi and stuff be flirty again and I'm always nice to him because I still like him and my heart starts beating but when I try to talk to him he will suddenly be rude to me again or roll his eyes at me or another time he will ignore

Judging from this... Cut him off. Seriously, if he is going to play mind games like this. Just cut him off. If he comes back all flirty and what not, and wonders why you are giving him the cold shoulder, just tell him one simple line.

Forget those, they have issues, one day they will learn with trial and error, because what if you two got involved and you find out he is really a psycho? you will kick yourself for investing so much time and emotional energy.
