so the guy I like, I have known 2 months now. keep in mind, we live next door to one another so I understand there is a bit of different rules/behavior with this, and we don;'t talk everyday, we sometimes go a week or so without anything but maybe a wave. just because (at least for me) I don't wanna be overbearing, I wanna show I respect his privacy as well.

however in all the times we have talked, he has never tried to touch me. I know people say this is a sure sign a guy likes you but is it a sure sign he doesn't then or could it be because we are still getting to know each other, or live so close? maybe he is just a bit shy. I have touched him in the sense that I shook his hand but also brushed against it briefly when showing him something on my dogs back. he does give eye contact a lot, remembers things I tell him, jokes around, "shows" off by re-enacting stories for me, tries to relate to me in many ways, introduced me to his highly shy mom who doesn't meet people usually, there is many signs that make me think he might like me... but then there is this... should I be worried about it? I don't wanna tell him how I feel just yet, I wanna get to know him a bit more yet. however I realize its the only sure fire way to know if he likes me. I just wanna know is this a way to say for sure he doesn't?

I disagree with the premise of what you've heard.

Touch is primarily a cultural thing.

I've met complete strangers who are very touchy-feelie (sometimes annoying so), and I also have close friends I've never even hugged. It's all relative what feels normal to different people.

A lot of it has to do with the way you were brought up. You say that his mom is very shy. That actually tells me a lot. Shy people are less likely to use touch casually even with close family members.

Even if he himself is not shy, I guarantee you that his family had a big influence on what seems natural to him when it comes to showing affection. People show affection in different ways, so you definitely want to be looking for any sign that he might care about you.

If I liked a girl I wouldn't try to touch her, unless I knew for a fact she liked me back, and even then you never know if she want's you touching her. I think he might like you and just think you might not want him touching you.

It s not a sure way he doesn't like you, however its quite hard when you are attracted to someone not touch them, so I would say he isn't that into you, no matter how shy he is he would have touch your arm at some point...

Also in a similar situation where I saw myself touching this guy many times, his arm, his cheeck and he never did to me, he likes when I do, like he smiles but he never did and I realize its out of my control this need to touch him, obviosly he see me as a friend and I wanted more but whatever I will find someone who does

Well to be fair, most of the times we have talked, I have had a leash in my hand, its not exactly the easiest way/time to get touchy feely since he is often down petting the dog. One time we talked over the fence as well. So I won't give up hope just yet :)

You know what...wish I could help you on this...but the only way I can is to say that I'm in a somewhat similar situation...I've been seeing a guy for the last few months...and I sat on his BED next to him...he tried NOTHING! We haven't even kissed, just hugged...so I'm starting to wonder if he likes me at all...

Answering your title: No, it does not mean he does not like you. He could be shy, or he might not know how you feel about him, so he doesn't want to look like a fool by making a move, and then getting rejected, as getting rejected destroys them.

So you are correct. When live close to someone it really changes how you approach a potential relationship. I am dealing with same exact situation right now. So, I live in a very rural small town. The dating population for my age group is very small. So, every woman I have dated in the last few years have been through online dating apps. So it like you are not even dating a real person until you meet them for the first time, and when you it's like subconsciously on your mind that this just some woman you found on like.

So, I met this woman. She literally live less than a mile away from me, and we literally work for the same company... but she teleworks. So I was really hesitant. I mean she is like a real person... like someone I know and live close to and we work for the same company. She is a real person, and we haven't even gone out yet.

So to me when you are in this situation you really do have to respect the other persons space and give it time to grow forward. Because from the very start you know, that this person will be right there... like for long time this person will be around. You will see them again no matter what and its small town and everyone will know, or at least thing they know what's going on.

So, I had this idea she was flirting with me... and I ignored it and really took some time to think about it. So, I approached her and ask her out on a date yesterday. She smiled really sweet smile and said yes.

But I am totally freaked out honestly... but she is a super nice person. So there really is no reason why I should be freaked out. But I am.

So this is what you are talking about I think. And all I can say is that I never touched this woman I am dealing with... not even a handshake. So physical touch is not the problem. The problem is that if this guy is truly interested in you, then he should start acting like a man. Because a real man should and can totally make his interest known and still be gentlemen. So, the only think you can assume is that he is not interested, or he is really shy. So you either wait on him to start acting like a man, or you just ask him out yourself. In 2023 there is nothing wrong with the woman taking the lead.

In my case she did. She complimented me one day. I thanked her tole it was really nice to get complements because they seem in short supply around here. She said, , maybe I should come by her office sometime next week. because the people she works with are full of compliments. So I did, and then told her that if ever wanted to do anything outside of work she should let me she emailed me an hour later asking me to meet her on Thursday night. But you see I have no problem with that, and actually I find it very refreshing... because I expressed my interest to her like real man and gentleman should and response like really convent and secure woman would.

So maybe he is not a very secure and confident man.

he just had surgery and had a cast and got it removed this week so I plan to ask to "see" the scars and ill grab his arm when I look :)
