It's really important not to react. If you smiled and played it off then that's good. Don't make a big deal about her saying no. And I wouldn't recommend making a big deal out of asking a girl out. It doesn't have be a huge thing. Could even be something you just drop into the conversation.
For example, say you're talking about clothing:
"Yeah I'm really digging your style. You can be my new fashion advisor, here chuck your digits in and I'll let you know the next time I'm looking for some new clothes"
Even if she says no here you can move on easier and just talk about something else. Key is to not react. If you see her again, be friendly but don't treat it as a big deal.
And keep at it. Good on you for getting out there and giving it a try. Actually, I'd rather a girl say no then string me along and then flake. Saves time. You'll get better and you'll forget about this in no time, guaranteed.

Rejection sucks, but the sooner you learn to handle it well, the more confident and successful you will be with women. Don't let this stop you from approaching women in the future.
As far as dealing with her, I would just act like it never happened. It sounds to me like you're better off without a high horse egomaniac anyway, lol.
In the future, some things to keep in mind:
If you can learn to read body language, you will be better informed as to who you should approach, and who you probably shouldn't bother with. If they avoid eye contact, don't bother. If they make strong eye contact and then look down at the floor, go for it. If they look at you and touch their hair, go for it. If they smile at you GO FOR IT.
Best of luck in the future!
So, what's your question?
Everyone would feel embarrassed and humiliated, especially since she was acting like a bitch.

Ah... well. Don't feel too bad. I asked a girl out almost nine months ago, and she was just as nice about it, but after I saw her a couple more time afterwards, she was cold. I do realize, however, I dodged a bullet. It wasn't meant to be. But it's normal to feel embarrased about it, but, it'll pass.
To me, she is a bitch.
