Why would a guy who messaged me first on tinder stop replying back?

So this guy messaged me on tinder and had a really good pick up line that was a song with thr same name as mine. He randomly stopped responding after a day of on and off messaging. Why did he stop replying first and so rrandomly? He obviously thought I was cute if he took the time to message me 1st right? Also, should I give him my number or is that a waste of time? Is he just trying not to come off too strong? Later I messaged him again saying the song was stuck in my head and he said hahah good! But i didn't redpond because i didn't wanna seem desperate. What does this all mean? Help!

Let me start by saying that the "coming off strong" bs you read on dating sites really is bs. Most guys appreciate if a girl initiates for a change, or puts herself forward. Trust me, it's a bigger turn off to ignore a guy or play mind games.
Secondly, he might be busy lately. Guys aren't always glued to their social media like girls these days.
Thirdly, he might have gauged after a few texts that you're not really his type. Initiate, but don't try and be someone you're not. Are you flirting back or just talking like you're a friend? Are you being too goody goody? (i.e. have your walls up)
Also, the balance of power for dating in the prime age (18-30) is in favour of women. Women are like recruitment officers - they're faced with 100s of applications every day, and they just have to take one look at the face or name and say "eww..he wears blue socks" and reject. Guys are seeking a "job" (no pun intended), so they swipe right on almost every girl they come across (barring the morbidly obese, grotesque or the mother or drug addict types). My point here is that he might not really have been into you to begin with - he was just swiping right. Guys can't afford to be picky at this age lol.
Lastly, many girls use Tinder just for validation purposes. After doing a background check on some of them (looking them up on Facebook, or by asking mutual friends), I find that many already have boyfriends and are just playing Tinder for fun - i.e. so they can have a laugh with their girlfriends, or for an ego boost. Many of the hot girls add their instagram accounts just so they get more followers - they may reply sweet but they have no intention of dating. This guy might not know if you're just after attention or serious about dating. You need to put yourself forward! What have you to lose? If you ignore him, he'll likely think you're just looking for an ego boost.

A lot of guys message like 10 or so girls at a time because of the rate of "no replies" they get from girls so if you're smart you'll hit him up for a meet ASAP or another girl's going to get a bite.

Girls I know who use sites like these tell me they get like 50 messages a day. Tinder is not as well known and not available on most phones so it may be less on that but I constantly hear tinder's a hook up site. I know a girl on okcupid who said within like 2-3 days she got like 30 messages.

I also have messaged girls online when online dating was new to me and honestly it took messaging a lot of girls to find a date. So if you're idle, he's going to message other girls if he has not already. Just give your number if you aren't turned off by him.

He's probably talking to other people at the same time.
Now this doesn't mean to say there couldn't be genuine interest there. But it's one of those situations where it's real easy to have a nice convo with someone then move onto the next one of the person you're talking to doesn't seem to be showing much interest.
If you think he's cute, funny, got good lens, plenty of other girls probably do too. And he's in just the right place to find them.
So if you're genuinely interested in getting to know the guy more, make a move. Chat about something that requires more of a response. Maybe ask about exchanging numbers so it moves it out of the, 'oh she's just a someone I chat with on tinder' to that cute girl he texts all the time.

And hey, if he does take you trying to make convo as being desperate. Lucky for you, you're also in the right place to find another cute guy to talk to. But long story short; nothing ventured, nothing gained.
