I'm from the UK and I feel like an anomaly here, as if i'm the only person that can't watch football. I find the sport fun to play but part of me thinks certain sports are partly brainwashed as a favourite sport by most people.
I've really tried but I just can't watch football, it is running left and right for 90 minutes. One part I've never been able to understand is the point where the referey draws the line between when something deserves a free kick due to a foul or not... i mean if they were really injured, they wonuldn't be in any position to give a free kick with the foot they were just tackled by.

I don't know I think a little bit of it has to do with our BORING ass commentators. I'm learning Spanish now but even before then I always watched soccer in Spanish on Telemundo and Univision. Even though I had no idea what the hell they were saying, outside of players names, it's still more exciting and passionate than other channels. Of course everyone loves to hear the commentator scream "GGGGOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL", when they score but even outside of that I find soccer more enjoyable to watch when it's not the English commentators.

We're not as exposed to it in this part of the world, as much as in other countries. There are a lot of fans though.

Americans don't hate soccer. Just because you saw something in a movie doesn't make it true. Americans like soccer. It's not as popular as in other parts of the world, but they still like it.
There aren't many people who hate sports. And most of the ones who do probably hate all sports. There are a lot of people who aren't into sports and don't get the appeal, but that's not the same as hating them. This isn't in English but you can work out what they think of it. m.youtube.com/results
it's from a simpsons episode. Here we go generalizing a whole nationality... I think it's because we're more of an American Football loving country. There are plenty of soccer fans here though.
Its because they think players fake inuries and that the score hardly moves.
As for the 1st point, remember that they see soccer players as delicate whereas they are fine with all the "girls" in baseball who need a glove to catch the ball. There are a lot of Americans who love soccer. I dont know where you heard otherwise.
Soccer is fun to play, but boring af to watch on tv..
They don't understand it, or because their level of skill in said sport doesn't match the rest of the world (probably due to how unpopular it is)
Because its not as fun to watch compared to other sports, like hockey or UFC. there's just more action with those sports rather than soccer.
They don't hate soccer. It's just not big of a culture as it is in ither countries

We love soccer. We just love American football more.
We just prefer baseball, basketball and football because they are part of our heritage.
