My advice to you - do only what is required of you or just a tiny bit more than that - if you go above expectations in one area - that might tire you out - so that you aren't able to excel in another area and good luckk to you on the run!!! you also might want to read books that give you instructions on how to run effectively - I think your posture and balance when running can to a small extent affect your speed when you are running.

Make sure you're well hydrated and continue to stay in shape up until the day you run. Take a break the day before to give your body a time out, then give it all you got the day of!
hard work will always be rewarded not always the exact way we desire but will always be rewarded.
Suggestion put 25-50lbs in a back pack and run with it in your free time. When you remove the weight for your test you will feel more confident. Make sure you run the full 1.5miles with the weight.
Keep pushing yourself. You would have made it if you didn't hold back. Don't hold back and keep up on your running.
