What sport do you think I should pick up?

OK, so I need to do physical activity under a supervisor - important! - for school. Doesn't matter what that is, long as it's a sport. I've been considering running, but unfortunately running clubs are scarce in the area (too far from where my school & home are, it'd take longer to get there than it's worth).

So, here's the information I think you're gonna need to answer this question:
- I'm 17
- I'm 5'9" (or 175cm) and 140lbs (64kg) with little muscle mass (though I'm capable fo gaining it pretty quickly)
- I'm actually in awful shape at the moment, so I don't think high intensity sports would do it
- my arms are strong, but my core is pretty weak
- I have broad shoulders and relatively narrow hips
- I have decent enough focus and reflex, nothing spectacular though
- I'm awfully inflexible; as in, I can't even touch my toes for longer than a second
- I haven't actually practiced any sport regularly since I was 13

I was thinking swimming would be OK, but do you have any other ideas?
What sport do you think I should pick up?
