Material doesn't bring happiness. We are greedy beings. We always want more, better and what we don't already have. Having everything doesn't necessarily make us feel complete. Things can't cover the gap that needs to be filled with emotions. As they say, whatever shines isn't gold. People often seem to have it all but in reality they only have junk. Those that seem to you to be on a pedestal are often those with the most problems. Problems that can be hidden are still problems. I've seen it in person. I've dealt with a situation like this before. It always goes deeper. Is the love of a parent measured in expensive gifts? Is it alright if someone is always away even when he's next to you? You know, having a parent that has no time for you and has plenty of money to spend on you isn't really a blessing. Having a beautiful house doesn't mean that a relationship isn't falling apart. Keeping something secret doesn't stop it for happening.
If a person is truly depressed, material things won't solve it. Depression is a flaw in chemistry, not character. A big theory (that a lot of psychologists back up) is that depression is a result from low levels of serotonin and/or norepinephrine. Material things won't fix that.
Well if you think about, there is nothing for them to really pursue. I started getting to that point when I moved out. I had a place, a job, and things got really dull. I had no endorphin rushes out of anything I did. I needed to take on more stuff. If you actually look at a lot of people who live at home with their parents and play video games 24/7 they're settled in with nothing going for them and honestly... very depressed as well.
sometimes people don't realise what they have or they think , things could still be better or there upset about something they cannot change or they suffered a loss at some point , people just get depressed for various reasons

"Want" is worthless when you cannot get what you "Need". People Want all their lives, dying in a mire of misery, because they never sought what they Need. You can own the entire Earth and all things within it and have the glory of every kingdom and the praise of every human and still miss even the most basic of things.
Everything's amazing and nobody's happy. It's because most real problems have been solved, so people make up problems
