When you're going to swim, do you jump in the cold water, or edge into it slowly?

Kinstrome
When you're going to swim in a pool or other body of water (and it's safe to jump), do you jump right into it and get it over with, or do you ease yourself in comfortably until you're all the way in? Or can you not swim or not have access to a place to swim most or all of the time? Feel free to explain your choice.
I jump right in. Life is short!
I ease in from the steps/ladder/elsewhere. The shock is too much!
I've never been in a pool or body of water deep enough to jump.
I can't swim.
