How do guys really feel about dating a woman that is overweight?

Do men sometimes fall in love with a woman , but choose not to date her because of her weight, but remain good friends?

What if she loses 50 lbs and then he all of a sudden wants to start dating her,hmmm should she worry because he was not interested in dating her when she was 50 lbs overweight?

I personally feel that a man is generally turned off by excess weight and that the saying they should love you as you are is overrated I am curious what men really think about this issue of sex, love and weight?

This is a loaded question from hell for whomever answers it is doomed to being titled shallow. Fortunately, I don't care. I'll be the first to admit that being overweight is not attractive. I am sorry. It's not pretty at all.

Let's flip it. Say you are in great shape and proud of it. You are in the bar and a huge fat guy comes up to you and hits on you. He smells, his clothes look funny because his body shape is unnatural, and he has trouble breathing since his lungs have to work extra hard to move all that weight. Not all that attractive huh? You think to yourself "oh man this guy is nasty". Well, it happens to us too.

I haven't met too many guys that stay friends with heavy gals because they would be hot if they lost weight. Show me a guy that is willing to wait the 5-6 months so she can get in shape and hope to date her then. Most likely she has hot friends and is using her as a gateway. That or they are just genuine good friends. I work with scum bags so I see more of the further.

To answer your question, no. Being overweight is a turn off. Personality is important and you might have the greatest character in the world. Remember that even though looks are only 10% of the equation it's the first 10% every time you see each other. A small chunk with great importance in the social jungle.

Everyone has their "type". Have you ever liked someone and knew you'd be a great couple but just weren't attracted to him?

I have never felt that way, if I really like someone and feel a connection, I am attracted. Though I have felt the opposite, I can be attracted physically at first but not really have any feelings other than that.

I'm slim, so after reading this question I asked my boyfriend "Would you still love me if I got fat? " He said "Only if you were carrying my baby". He was only half-joking, because he went on to say that he would never normally date an overweight girl. But then, I would never date a fat guy, so I guess we both feel much the same.

Personality matters, but you would be lying if you said looks didn't. I know I wouldn't date some sloppy 300 lb. Guy so why do we expect guys to pretend weight doesn't matter. You don't have to be size 00 but you should be proportionate and look good if you want a fighting chance in the dating world.
