Well it could be, but sleeping a lot could also mean growth spurts. My sister used to sleep all day and she grew a few inches during that time.
Some other signs would be losing interest in things that used to make you happy, feeling resentment towards people who are happy, sadness, loneliness, hatred for life, etc.
But some people don't even notice they are depressed when they are. I didn't know, and my sister told me I barely spoke one word during the week, but I thought that was normal. I thought all the bad feelings and hopelessness and hatred for people's happiness was normal. I even thought I was still happy and the same person. But I wasn't.
I have a really good understanding of depression. I've had it for years and still have it. There are a ton of signs, and everybody is different. While your sign could be sleeping a lot, my sign was not sleeping enough and never eating. I have a really hard time sleeping, and it only started when the depression was growing.
Hopefully if you are feeling depressed it goes away or you find some help. I don't want you to end up like me. Being stuck in this mentality sucks but it's what I'm used to know.

If you are asking this question, I would suggest checking with a doctor. Excessive sleeping is a symptom of dozens of common problems that are created by modern living alone. If you gave more symptoms, I could help you with the depression thing, but as it is, I can't say.
Yes it is. I try exercise and reading, perhaps you've got interests you can try.
