What are some successful weight loss strategies you've tried?

I used to be a tiny person… I don't know what happened, but everything has gotten out of control. I'm so overweight now that I'm just tired all the time. I work out, I do. I do crossfit actually and I'm STILL overweight. I've gained a lot of muscle strength, but I'm still overweight! I am short though.. and foods are so highly caloric that it's a huge problem for me. On average, I only burn like 1300 calories a day… to lose weight you have to subtract at least 500.. but 800 calories a day leaves me SO hungry. I've tried eating less, but I'm always so freaking hungry. I bought an elliptical for my apartment and I've used it when I'm reading or doing nothing, but I haven't had any success. I'm addicted to food for sure. I get cravings and it's really hard for me to ignore them. Eating the paleo diet has worked best for me in the past, but it's SO expensive and time consuming. Ugh, I'm just so mad at myself. I was cute and tiny at one point… I just looked in the mirror and I feel SO bad about what I look like. It's just gross and yet I can't seem to fix it.
