I used to be a cutter. I quit doing that because I was about to lose my friends over it. Ofcourse they supported me and were there for me but support only goes so far and after years of advice and watching me not following it, they had it. I don't know how I actually stopped and quit like that. Ofcourse I had a few set backs, but now I think I haven't cut myself in almost 8 years or something. I think I just realised it doesn't solve anything. Hurting yourself isn't the way to solve things, it won't change the situation. Plus, the scars are still there years later, reminding you of (let's be honest) a stupid mistake. I have some large cut scars on my arm and every year my mom asks me how I got them, new friends ask me how I got them but I'm ashamed of telling the truth. To be honest, I'm not even tempted to cut myself anymore. The first months were soooo hard, with every little thing I used to cut for I had to restrain myself from doing it.
I'm sorry I couldn't really help, I guess I'm off it for too long to remember how I actually got over it.

Oh, good grief. It's the worst feeling, isn't it? You need to keep yourself busy. Exercise, read, watch a movie, talk to some friends, go shopping, work. Whatever you can do. Once you have cut, you will always be a "cutter", but you don't always need to cut. You will always have the urge, but it will weaken with time. You might mess up and do it again, and that's okay; it happens. Just remember that you want to stop and to be strong, and focus on the positive things in life. You'll pull through. It's tough.
1. Salami slice time into manageable chunks. Tell yourself you're not going to do it right now.
2. Don't be with people that cut.
3. Be physically active as much as you can.
4. If you're going to cut, put it off for a bit and get help in stead. Call 911 if you have to.
If you don't think you can make it today without cutting, try making each hour without cutting. If you cannot make it a whole hour, try to make the next 10 minutes... then the next 10 minutes after that.
You really should be getting professional help.

Cutting yourself is so pointless. It literally solves NOTHING.

I'd rather just spend my days watching videos likeYou should seek some professional help since you're trying to stop. It's a sign of recovery. They may know ways to help you pass time and not think about self harm.
i just work out, one day i really lost it and punched a huge hole in the wall with a boxing glove on lol i really didn't mean to, meant to hit a stud but i missed. really gotta hook up my punching bag again
Really sort of curious why you cut. What benefit does it bring you? What do you expect to gain from it? What's the desired result?
I've looked this sort of stuff up on the internet, but what I've read doesn't make much sense to me.I used to, but I had my reasons. Now, I realize it wasn't the best thing. Occupy yourself with things you like to do.
