I was just wondering if there are any experienced people, who can give me tips on things they wish they had known before?
Anything that you did not think of during training etc?
Thanks in advance
Keep on running!
I run a lot, though I have only ever ran a half marathon before. Just like with any other form of long distance running make sure your shoes are comfortable, as blisters are something you want to avoid. As well as keeping hydrated, make sure you consume good slow releasing carbohydrates such as pasta. Nipple chaffing is a real problem sometimes, wear a comfortable bra or cover them.
Full marathon?
Start loading your body with carbs a week before the race.
Don't push yourself too hard before the race , rest , let your muscles heal.
Stay away from caffeine and drink LOTS of water.
Try running with one of those Elevation Training mask during training. You'll feel the difference.
I'm not a marathon runner but I do run a lot and I can tell you
although you probably already know this, but staying hydrated and
pacing yourself is a huge part of running long distances. ^.^
