How long do you want to live? Life-span question.

As people live longer and longer lives , the retirement age also get pushed back further and further. People born today are expected to retire by the age of 72 , with an expected lifespan of almost 80+

Now what I want to ask is... how long do you want your life to be?

Assuming you reaches your prime in your 30s and it starts a gradual decline to when you're 40s which you ages likes a dog till you're 70 , which then you retire.

Long lives run in my family, and I even have 'Long life lines' on my palms, which were verified by a physic who just point blank came out and said to me: You're very healthy, you will live a long life. I have to laugh, for I pretty much knew----It could happen, God willing.
People Today live longer than they did centuries ago, for there is More advanced technology, far better medicine, and more of a chance to reach the ripe ol' age of 100. I had a grandma who reached 99 when she passed away, and with this, I have even read, people have lived, still living way past 105... xx

My grandma is 96 and she has 3 sons who see her multiple times a week, month and year but she has sleeping problems, back problems, bone problems, minor incapacitation, confusion etc... If my life was like that I would not want to prolong it.

My grandma died of a stroke at the age of 86 , paralyzed for almost a week before her brain dead.
That'll suck royal balls.

Well seeing as I am 50 now and still living a very active life (working in Aghanistan). It is hard for me to imagine when I will die. I would say if I can get to the point of being able to relax and hold my wifes hand while being retired it would be good enough for me. Lets take a shot in the dark and just say somewhere around 80 - 90 I guess. That may seem like an old long life but when your 50 it doesn't seem that far off really.

Because, I don't want to live to a point where my body is physically unable to do the things I want to do, I know that there are a lot of physically active people in their 70's, but, my max age will vary depending on when my body starts wearing out.

Hmm, not really, but, like, If I want to go out and take photos in the middle of nowhere, I need to be physically fit enough to be able to be on my feet for a long time, without being in pain or anything :o

hmm... what if cybernetics such as powered skeletons becomes viable and you can buy one for the price of say... a Ferrari.
Would you buy it in exchange for a higher quality of life , or would you just not bother.

I would like to live until the age of 100. But, if I live until the ages of 70- 80 it would be good too.
It end of the day what matter is not how long you live but how you live.

Just went to my grandmother's 95th birthday party. My other grandmother died last year at 97.

You're all gonna hit 50-60 feeling like you left university just a few years before.

I really don't know or care.
I'd prefer to only live as long as I'm healthy and able to care for myself.
Once I become an invalid, I don't want to live past that.

My dad is in his early 70's and it ain't too bad for him. Somewhere around that age.
