How to know if I need stitches?

I have a cut on my wrist from an... krhm. .. "unfortunate accident" and I was wondering how to know if it needs stitches? It's only about half a centimeter wide, few centimeters long and it's across the vein, not along it. It's has finally stopped bleeding but it's still oozing a little bit, aching and open wide after 12 hours. I just want to avoid a nasty infection :/ Also was wondering about it since the wrist is an area you move a lot so it would be hard to keep it closed up with just a bandaid...
Also I don't wanna risk going to the doctor's in this small town and my family hearing about it...

I'm not a doctor, I can't tell you what to do, but from general knowledge i know that the vein will heal quickly. As for infection, make sure that it is sterilized (using hydrogen peroxide helps, it is a common disinfectant as you may well know) make sure it is cleaned and you may want to use actual bandages or gauze to keep it wrapped.

Personally, GO TO THE DOCTOR. As much as you don't want your family to hear about it, it's not something you should take any risks on, even if its not life-threatening. You are not a doctor, neither am I, and I'm sorry if I'm being to blunt, but this is something that a doctor would be better suited in helping you with, not this website.

You won't need stitches unless it is really deep, It will probably heal on its own, but a doctor can help you more than I can. If you really wanna keep it on the down low, talk to your doctor about it, tell him/her that you don't want knowledge of it spreading.

I'm more worried about the fact you're cutting yourself and feel like getting medical advice over a relationship focused site is the best way for you to get attention. Just go to the doctor because its clear attention is what you want.

Well you'll have suck it up and go to the doctor. If you do need stitches you won't be able to avoid seeing the doctor anyway.

If it stopped bleeding or secretes blood once in while then you shouldn't need stitches.
